Writing findings and assessment reports
How to write an observation that a second reviewer can replay — and how not to dress working notes up as a SAP, SAR, or certification decision.
Educational resource only. scm.cc is not a FedRAMP Recognized Independent Assessor (3PAO) and is not FedRAMP-authorized; it grants no authorization, certification, or assessment outcome. FedRAMP.gov is the authoritative source. This is not legal advice.
This is scm.cc skills training. Completing a course or receiving an scm.cc training certificate does not make you a FedRAMP Recognized Independent Assessor, is not a FedRAMP credential, and is not government recognition. Official recognition requires A2LA accreditation (REC-IAS-ACC) and FedRAMP Recognition. FedRAMP.gov is the authoritative source. This is not legal advice.
Who it is for
People drafting findings language who must not over-claim.
- Write observation, official requirement, evidence, and impact as separate fields.
- Leave gaps visible instead of filling them.
- Keep scm.cc notes distinct from assessor SAP/SAR work.
Lessons
- Finding anatomy
A usable finding is replayable: someone else can open the same official statement and the same evidence and reach the same observation.
- Do not fill gaps
Claims policy and honest assessment agree: missing stays missing. Invented scans, owners, dates, or 'probably fine' notes are false evidence.
- SAP, SAR, and scm.cc working notes
Security Assessment Plans and Reports are assessor work products. scm.cc does not author them and this course does not issue them.
- Certification Data and machine-readable outputs
20x pushes structured data (SDR, VER/VDR, OSCAL assessment results) so reviewers can validate more than prose. Learn the shapes; do not invent extra fields.

Questions
- Is this a FedRAMP or A2LA credential?
- No. Completing the course yields an scm.cc training certificate only. Official Recognition requires A2LA accreditation (REC-IAS-ACC).
- What is indexable before I pay?
- This landing page, the lesson previews, and the free intro lesson body. Paid lesson bodies are omitted from the public HTML — the same for humans and crawlers.
