FedRAMP 20x with GitLab
GitLab protected branches, merge-request approvals, push rules, and SAST/dependency scanning play the same role as the GitHub methods: they are generators and verifiers for change, not a FedRAMP-specific product.
Educational resource only. scm.cc is not a FedRAMP Recognized Independent Assessor (3PAO) and is not FedRAMP-authorized; it grants no authorization, certification, or assessment outcome. FedRAMP.gov is the authoritative source. This is not legal advice.
Technical detail
Prefer API exports (project approval rules, protected branches, scanner job logs) over UI screenshots. Map each export to one KSI. Coverage must include every in-scope project, not a sample demo.
How to implement
If you run both GitHub and GitLab, they can be independent sources when they actually gate different paths. Two mirrors of the same repo are not independence.
Common mistakes
- A public community project used as evidence for a private offering. - Ignoring subgroups that can merge without the recorded approval rule.
